What are riverside paths and which offer opportunities


Presentation
riverside paths are valuable ecological corridors along water courses, where you can engage in sports outside with non-competitive, moving into the river and along the banks in a peaceful and away from traffic.

The project known as the "Green U of Padua was an important first step towards the realization of a wider system of green that involves the entire network of rivers and channels, involving the public areas along the banks of the canals that run south of the city. The aim is to give a unity to the crown of greenery that grows along the canals Tronco Maestro, drain, and part of the San Gregorio Piovego, transforming it into a landscaped park where it is fostered cycling, pedestrian river.

These precious green spaces have been equipped with gymnastic and pathways affected by renaturalization with the reconstruction of a tree structure compatible with the flood safety of the levees: white poplars, ashes, maples and other species shade the banks of a long abandoned and treeless.

The "Green U" is entirely walking and cycling and is now a new sign system specially designed to indicate the opportunities along the route.
The route was divided into several sections, which are represented by different colors: yellow route

  • Channel San Gregorio
  • green route of drainage canal path
  • blue Lungargine grove along the river and the canal Bacchiglione Brentella.
For each path length is indicated, the intersections and interesting stops with an emphasis on parks and gardens. Also reported are the traces of the Ring cycle of the entire city's river system, some rules use and indications of trails suitable for Nordic Walking.
